New
Special Classes
Combat
Tai Chi II: Intensive - Thursdays 6:30-7:30 PM (10
weeks). Class began February 10, 2011 (you can still
join the class).
The goal of the
Combat Tai Chi
Special Class series is similar to the regular Fighting Class: to teach
students the meaning of the tai chi moves and their application in a
combat situation. Then, to give students the opportunity to practice
these moves on a partner (both wearlng protective padding). In this
second course, a few moves have been selected from the form.
These
moves are easy to learn and very effective in countering real life
combat situations. Students will practice these few moves for 10 weeks
so that they become proficient in them, confident that should the need
arise they will be able to execute these moves.
Weapons: Two-person Stick starts
February 19, 2011
The next Saturday Special Class, 2:30-3:30, will be Two-person Stick
and will start February 19th and run for 10 weeks review.
Two-person
Stick is a dueling stick form choreographed by Master Chu using moves
from more traditional stick forms (that use six foot
long sticks) as
well as cane and flute forms for use on smaller (40") sticks. The
adaptation makes the moves useful, say with an umbrella or cane, in a
world in which we no longer use long sticks daily.
