Master Chu's Martial Arts Background
In
Hong Kong, C.K. Chu studied: Northern Shao Lin from Master See; Fut Ga
(Buddha Fist) from Master Lee; Cheng Wing-Gung's Wu style Tai Chi; Yang
style from Master Chan a student of Yang Cheng-fu and Tung Ying-jeh; and
Judo from Gom Jen (Golden Well), a Japanese Master.
In New York, he studied
with Master William C.C. Chen and assisted teaching at his school; and
he took classes at the Judo Center in the East 70's. He taught Tai Chi
both at Aaron Bank's Karate Academy and Hank Kraft's Judo School in Queens.
In 1973, Master Chu
founded his own school, the Tai Chi Chuan Center of New York. Since then,
he has spent the last 36 years exposing students to the numerous benefits
of Tai Chi and Nei Kung. In March, 2001, the school moved to its current
location at 156 West 44th Street and was renamed Chu Tai Chi.
Master C.K. Chu does
not claim lineage from any of his teachers.
