Nei Kung
Improvement
Saturday 2:30-3:30 PM (10 weeks) begins October 22, 2011.
Students at CK Chu Tai Chi
are encouraged to seek correction of their nei kung postures on
a regular basis. Corrections can be done during any tai chi class. A
Special Class in Nei Kung Improvement is also taught by Master
Chu as part of the advanced series of classes. This class meets once a
week for 10 weeks. Each class is dedicated to one of the 10 Chu Nei
Kung postures. A student volunteer will demonstrate the posture and
the class will learn how to improve that persons posture, and in the
process learn how to do the posture more correctly.
CK Chu Tai Chi will now be offering weapons
classes on Thursday.
Broadsword Form
Thursday 6:30 - 7:30 PM (Part 1 - 10 weeks). Starting September
22, 2011.
Starting September 22, 2011, at 6:30 pm, the
Thursday night Special Class will be the Broadsword Form (there will be
o class on 9-29 for Rosh Hashanah). The Broadsword, also known as the
"Big Knife" is a weapon with one cutting edge and one blunt edge, for
pushing. The weapon was traditionally used as a secondary weapon by
soldiers in battle. The form taught by Master Chu is not a well-known
form. This form's element is metal, and its classic tai chi moves help
develop strong body-weapon coordination. A from of great beauty and
strength, it has practical applications for self-defense in our present
time. Although class practice is with a sword, the same techniques can
be used with a smaller knife.
